Future

3A

Reflect on your personal-professional development, using the theory of boundary crossing*. Describe at least two key experiences from this minor where you learned something for your future professional or personal life, using Table 3.1 which describes the four learning mechanisms.

1

The first boundary crossing moment for me was to organize the Berlin activity because I really want to please everyone and I would love for everyone to be content and that everyone has a good time. Our Berlin trip was for people I did not know yet and I wanted to impress them. I had planned trips for my girlfriends before but I felt a bit uncomfortable organizing things for people I don’t know. Coordination process made it possible for me to practice existing means and routines since I was experienced with organizing but the learning potential has resided because I overcame a boundary.

2

Before this minor I was never involved in volunteering. This was a boundary for me because I did not know what to expect. However, I went through a transformation process because my volunteer work caused new in-between changes in me. Because I had to take on an entirely different role. I didn’t know what to do and how to behave but it really helped me to be from an intercultural background myself. I did my best to actively participate in developing solutions to existing problems and I think I did a good job.
